High Water Receding – Continued Safety Urged

Floodwaters around Vermont are receding and should continue to recede throughout Tuesday. However, Flood Watches and Warnings are still in effect for many areas of Vermont until later today or tonight.

A number of roads are still covered with water and several are closed. Areas affected include Richmond, Essex, Cambridge, and others. Motorists are still strongly urged to obey all detour signs and NEVER drive across a flooded road.

Also, anyone who encounters a flooded area should NEVER WALK INTO THAT WATER as a stronger than expected undercurrent could carry you down river.

For more information on weather conditions, please contact the National Weather Service in Burlington at (802) 862-8711 or Albany, NY at (518) 435-9571.
