Follow Zoning Laws When Rebuilding After Flood

Many Vermonters will be making needed repairs to their homes in the coming months following flooding around the state this spring.

When doing that work it is important to remember that it is still subject to local zoning regulations. There is no exception to local building codes for rebuilding after any disaster and proper permits must be obtained before work begins.

Regulations are different from town to town. To find out what you need to do to begin construction contact your local zoning administrator. To find your communities administrator visit http://www.vlct.org/vermontlocalgovernment/municipaldirectory/.
