Retail Price Scanner License Fee Changes

Per the 2010 legislative session, a new license was created for price scanners that are used in retail outlets.

All retail locations with four or more scanning points are required to obtain an annual license. The annual license fee is $10.00 per scanning point.

Any retail location with three or fewer scanning points is exempt from licensing.

This license pertains to individual retail locations. Each location is considered an individual outlet, even if part of a chain.

If you have questions, or need to be licensed, please contact the Consumer Protection Section of the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets at 802-828-2436.
