Secretary of State Jim Condos Brings “Got Transparency” to Wolcott - Thursday June 7th @ 6pm

Secretary of State Jim Condos will be making a presentation on Transparency in Government in Wolcott on Thursday, June 7th, 2012. Similar to his 12-stop “Transparency Tour” that occurred last fall in towns all across the state, Secretary Condos will be discussing both the Public Records Law and the Open Meeting Law.

“When Town Clerk and Legislator Linda Martin called and asked me to come to Wolcott, I immediately said yes. I am thrilled to be asked to present on this important topic,” stated Condos.

The presentation will take place at the Wolcott Town Offices, with members of the Selectboard, school board, planning commission, DRB, and the public invited to attend.

“In my first 18 months in office, I have made transparency in government one of my top priorities. In addition to making several presentations throughout the state on these issues, I have also worked with the legislature to encourage them to look closely at the public record exemptions, examining which ones are appropriate, need to be clarified, or should be eliminated,” furthered Condos.

The Secretary of State’s office receives many inquiries from municipal officials and from the general public, particularly about the Open Meetings law, and we disseminate this important information in many different formats, including in person meetings and postings on our website.

The public should feel free to attend this presentation in Wolcott and bring their questions with them.

Jim Condos is Vermont’s Secretary of State.
