An all-time record 695 participants were at the annual Grand Isle Fishing Festival, hosted by the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department at its Grand Isle Fish Culture Station in Grand Isle, VT. on Saturday, June 9. Fish & Wildlife staff, individual sportsmen and women, and members of organized sporting groups worked together to teach kids the basics about fishing in Vermont.
“This was a first-time fishing experience for many of the kids who attended,” said Fish & Wildlife Commissioner Patrick Berry. “We know they will have more to learn about fishing, but many little kids either caught a big trout or saw someone else do it, and if it serves as a memorable experience leading to a lifetime of fishing fun with family and friends, it is well-worth the effort.”
