Montpelier, Vermont – The website of resources for the Vermont Food and Fuel Initiative has been successfully launched at 1:00 PM today. Vermonters seeking information about the assistance should visit www.helpforvt.org
“Within these first weeks of the Food and Fuel initiative, we are encouraging people to call 2-1-1 as the first point of contact,” said David O’Brien, Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Public Service. “And because people routinely use the Internet to conduct research, we have designed this website as another resource for them,” said O’Brien.
July 1, 2008 was the first day of the Initiative, where the partnering organizations of Vermont 2-1-1, Efficiency Vermont and the Vermont Department of Public Service began to provide coordinated services for Vermonters seeking assistance with food and heating issues, caused by sweeping market forces.
Since the activation of the system, service providers from all three organizations have reported much higher than normal call volumes.
