Advisory Team Established in Governor's Executive Order to Strengthen State's Cybersecurity
Governor Phil Scott today announced appointments to his Cybersecurity Advisory Team, which he established via Executive Order 18-17 in October.
"Addressing cybersecurity is a critical mission for government, one that needs engagement, involvement and expertise from across public and private sectors," said. Gov. Scott. "That's why I formed this advisory team, which will carry out important work to improve our readiness and response to cyber threats. I appreciate the efforts of this team and their commitment to helping us in these efforts."
The Executive Order charges the Cybersecurity Advisory Team with developing a strategic plan for protecting the state's information and systems, evaluating statewide cybersecurity readiness, developing best practices for policies and procedures, and building partnerships with local universities and colleges to better leverage cybersecurity resources.
As established in the Executive Order, members from within the State of Vermont include the Chief Information Security Officer Glenn Schoonover, Chief Information Officer John Quinn III, the Governor's Homeland Security Advisor Richmond Hopkins, Vermont National Guard designee Brian Cavanagh, Attorney General's Office designee Ryan Kriger and Vermont Emergency Management designee Todd Sears.
Non-State members announced today are:
* Heather Roszkowski, Chief Security Officer, University of Vermont Medical Center (Waterbury Center)
* Tom Dunn, Chief Executive Officer, Vermont Electric Power Company (Montpelier)
* Phil Susmann, President, Norwich University Applied Research Institutes (Northfield)
* John Rajewski, Professor, Champlain College (South Burlington)
