State Treasurer Pearce Announces Successful Bond Sale

Bond buyers responded positively to this week’s Vermont bond sale. State Treasurer Beth Pearce announced today that $110 million in bonds were successfully sold in three different offerings. Vermont has maintained the highest overall bond rating of all New England states -– two triple-A ratings and one double-A plus rating -– since early 2010. Read more

Kingdom Heritage Lands Management and Access Plans Now Available

The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources has completed an updated plan for the Kingdom Heritage Lands, which includes changes to the management plan for West Mountain Wildlife Management Area and the public access plan for the Plum Creek Timberlands. Read more

Gov. Shumlin Thanks Searles for Years of Service, Appoints Minter as Transportation Secretary

Gov. Peter Shumlin announced on Tuesday that he will appoint Sue Minter to lead the Agency of Transportation effective January 1, 2015. Minter, who currently serves as Deputy Secretary, will take over from Secretary Brian Searles who has been planning to retire and will do so at the end of the year. Chris Cole, currently Director of Policy, Planning and Intermodal Development at VTrans, will replace Minter as Deputy Secretary. Read more

Vermont Businesses Earn $103 million in Government Contracts

In fiscal year 2014 Vermont companies earned 519 government contracts worth $103 million dollars—close to a 300 increase over FY12 and a 25 increase from FY13. This was thanks to the outstanding quality of Vermont products and services and the hard work of the Vermont Technical Procurement Center (PTAC) in matching Vermont businesses with government needs. Sec'y of Agriculture Issues Decision on Mandatory BMPs in Missisquoi Bay Basin

Vermont Secretary of Agriculture Chuck Ross issued a decision today denying a petition seeking to impose mandatory best management practices (BMPs) on farms in the Missisquoi Bay Basin. The decision directed the Agency’s Agricultural Water Quality Program to accelerate its agricultural water quality compliance and enforcement activities in the Missisquoi Bay Basin. Read more

Secretary of State to Conduct Election Audit

Secretary of State Jim Condos announced today that Vermont’s Elections Division will be conducting a random audit of the 2014 general election results. The audit will include six towns - a 50 increase from previous years. Read more
