Gov. Shumlin and Vermont emergency officials caution of flood potential
May 25, 2013 - WATERBURY - Gov. Peter Shumlin and officials with Emergency Management and Homeland Security and the Agency of Transportation today cautioned that weekend rainfall has elevated the risk of flooding across the state, and urged Vermonters to keep an eye on weather reports and local waterways. Sec’y of State Office Opens 150 Years of Caledonia County Court History for Research
Secretary of State Jim Condos announced today that the Vermont State Archives and Records Administration (VSARA), a division of the Office of the Secretary of State, is making steady progress on an initiative to preserve and improve access to Vermont’s archival court records. VSARA recently completed processing of all Caledonia County court records from 1794 to 1945. Read more

May 21, 2013 - Gov. Peter Shumlin issued the following statement: “My heart goes out to the friends, families and neighbors of those lost in the series of devastating tornadoes that have roared over Oklahoma this week. We are contacting emergency officials with Gov. Fallin’s office to offer Vermont’s assistance in clean up and recovery. VT Departments of Corrections, Fish & Wildlife Partner for Bat Conservation
The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department has partnered with the Southeast State Correctional Facility in Windsor to help save Vermont’s bats. Inmates involved in a work crew program recently built 50 bat houses that state biologists are using to provide daytime roosting sites for bats. Read more
