A "Security Score" is a measure of how confident a State of Vermont website or online service can be that your connecti on is secure and identifiable. A low score does not mean that your connection is insecure. A low means that you have not provided enough information for the myVermont.gov system to confidently identify you to sensitive services. It could also mean that you are u sing a computer other than the one you normally use.
The security score is used by certain online services to not show sensitive identifying pieces of information about you when we are not certain that it is you requesting that information. For instance, any tax payer information you enter will not be shown back to you unless your score is high enough for the system to be confident you are you. This score is designed to protect you and ensure that your information is not disclosed without a high confidence that it is you receiving it.
If you are being denied a service due to a low security score, there are several things you can do to increase it. The first is to provide more information to myVermont.gov. Having a completely filled out personal profile and at least one contact add ress will increase your score dramatically. You may also try changing your password to a stronger one. Finally, if you have not validated your account email address, you should do so. Following these suggestions should increase your security score dramatically.
