Secretary of State Jim Condos will be presenting “Got Transparency” at the Warren School on Thursday, June 6, 2013.
Continuing his popular “Transparency Tour,” Secretary Condos will discuss Vermont's Open Meeting laws, including access to public records.
“I am happy that the citizens of Vermont feel comfortable reaching out to me when they have questions regarding our Open Meeting laws," states Secretary Condos. "Transparency in government is an issue that is important to me and to Vermonters across the state, which is why I am honored that concerned citizens have invited me to come to the Mad River Valley.”
The presentation will take place at the Warren School at 6:30 PM. Local officials as well as members of the public from towns in the Mad River Valley are invited to attend.
"Meetings held that do not respect the details of the law offend our notions of openness and accountability and, therefore, our democracy. In Vermont, the people rule, sometimes directly, sometimes through elected or appointed representatives, but always with the benefit of public scrutiny," says Condos.
All local officials – elected, appointed, and employed - in the towns of the Mad River Valley are urged to attend this presentation by Secretary Jim Condos and to bring their questions with them. The public is also encouraged to attend.
Jim Condos is Vermont’s Secretary of State.
